MI releases video, more to come
December 27th, 2002 By Jim "Cosmo" Hetzer
Midnight Insanity is releasing a convention and broadcast highlight video.
With a message of more to come.
The message below is taken from an email from Mark Tomaino of Midnight Insanity, Art Theater, Long Beach, CA
With hundreds of video tapes from shows and conventions and other
media, I have finally put together a highlight video of clips I think
might be of interest to many RHPS fans.
We are selling it just to get Rocky Highlights of the last ten years
from around the country out to fans who were there and fans who WISH
they were there. Our goal is to make it available and to cover our
costs.
Below is the list of what is included on this first tape. I am sure I
have enough material to make MANY more highlight compilations. They
are not grouped or in any order necessarily.
Some of the footage features performances by specific casts of
course....but with all the changes in cast leadership and theaters I
do not know who to contact to let them know they were selected...so
basically you are on there and don't worry we are not making a profit
at your expense. IF you happen to be in charge of one of the featured
casts and do NOT wish to be on there then please let me know and your
segment will be replaced with another. Otherwise here is the text of
the intro to the tape and the playlist:
"The video you are about to see is dubbed. This video is a
compilation of various broadcast, theater, convention and special
appearance footage of interest to Rocky Fans. The recording quality
is sometimes good, sometimes marginal. It is the best we could do
with the equipment and source materials available.
"Even though the images or audio could sometimes be better we felt it
was important that people get to relive things that they were there
to witness or view things they missed. This tape will be of interest
to anyone curious about the development of the fan participation and
conventions over the years. This is not a chronological history…but
we did give dates when we could remember them.
"The cost of these tapes reflects that we are more interested in
distributing this film than profiting from it. We want everyone to be
able to feel a little bit like they were there. We hope you enjoy the
content and creativity that so many people and casts worked so hard
to present. This is not meant to represent just Midnight Insanity. We
included several special performances and clips from non MI cast and
media. Unfortunately there were things we had to leave out, in order
to choose what we felt were the best of the best performances and
features of universal interest.
"This tape is the first in a series. Please check
www.midnightinsanity.com or
www.rockystore.com for continued
availability of this and subsequent tapes in the series."
"If your cast has something that you are particularly proud of we
encourage you to submit it to Midnight Insanity for inclusion on an
upcoming compilation. Please email Mark Tomaino, thefixxer@aol.com
for submission guidelines. Future editions will have more convention
footage, broadcast shows that feature Rocky or rarities related to
Rocky Horror.
